As we ring in the new year, Fund for Shared Insight is thrilled to welcome 47 newly selected grantees to participate in Listen4Good (L4G), our signature national feedback initiative. The new grantees bring to 159 the total number of organizations working through L4G to build the practice of feedback loops in the social sector and philanthropy, especially aiming to amplify the voices of those least heard.
The 47 organizations and the 15 co-funders that nominated them, including 10 brand new to L4G, are listed at the end of this announcement. Among the new L4G co-funders is Sunlight Giving, a California family foundation focused on supporting nonprofits serving low-income families and their young children, which nominated 20 of the selected grantees. “We’re excited about Listen4Good as an opportunity for our grantees to hear from those they serve, and for us to learn with our grantees and other funders.” says Cheryl Chang, Sunlight Giving program officer. “The insights we gain from this work will also strengthen our grantmaking.”
New Listen4Good Data Analysis and Evaluation Results
As part of Shared Insight’s own learning journey, last year we engaged research consultants to assess the effectiveness of the survey tools L4G-participating nonprofits use to collect feedback. An analysis of the more than 29,000 survey responses collected so far, available here, offers preliminary evidence that L4G’s methodology, borrowed in part from private-sector customer-service practices, works in the nonprofit context.
Our evaluation partner, ORS Impact, has continued to conduct surveys of L4G grantees and co-funders. The grantee report, available here, suggests that L4G is helping to embed feedback practice and leading to meaningful changes in organizations. The co-funder report, available here, reveals broad satisfaction among funders with L4G and ongoing dialogue with grantees about what they’re learning.
