At Fund for Shared Insight, our hearts are with everyone around the globe struggling to find a safe, healthy, and productive path through the current crisis.
Though the world is a different place at the moment, Shared Insight’s focus remains the same — to build and sustain a robust, responsive, and compassionate community of listeners and learners. That goal couldn’t be more important than it is now, and our promise is to continue to provide the social sector the support needed to continue to elevate the voices of those least heard, informing decision-making, advancing equity, and improving the delivery of programs and services across the sector.
To that end, please read on for information about three key developments:
Listen4Good Co-Funded Grant Opportunity
The new co-funded grant round for Listen4Good, Shared Insight’s signature national feedback initiative, is now open. Applications will be accepted through July 17, 2020.
We are moving forward with this grant opportunity, recognizing the ongoing need for capacity-building support for organizations that want to listen and respond to feedback from those most vulnerable, especially at this time. To participate, an organization must be nominated by a current funder (existing or new). Nominating funders agree to contribute $15,000 to Listen4Good, which will be matched by Fund for Shared Insight’s national funders. Participating organizations receive a $30,000 capacity-building grant to implement high-quality feedback loops with the people they serve. For more information, funders go here; nonprofits, here. You can also sign up for an informational webinar to learn more about L4G and the application process.

COVID-19 Philanthropy Pledge
Shared Insight is promoting the COVID-19 Philanthropy Pledge, which, among other important practices, calls for foundations to lift up the voices of those least heard in the public discourse and decision-making around crisis response. We encourage our partner funders to sign on and we will share ways for them and others to fulfill this commitment going forward.
Virtual Learning Series Focus on Feedback
Shared Insight is developing a virtual learning series focused on feedback to launch in the coming weeks and we are also working with Feedback Labs and other key partners to produce content and resources especially relevant to today’s circumstances.
Finally, we’d like to offer a moment of reflection, reminding us all why feedback matters, even, or especially, in uncertain times. Watch this short video about the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, where a former food pantry client who now volunteers says feedback is about “adding love to the whole entire process…because you never know where people really are in their journey.”
