Additional Funders Join Fund for Shared Insight

James Irvine Foundation and Rockefeller Brothers Fund Provide Funding to Collaborative Effort

NEW YORK— Fund for Shared Insight is pleased to announce that The James Irvine Foundation and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund (RBF) have signed on to support our efforts to improve philanthropy. The Irvine Foundation’s longtime commitment to California will be reflected in its support, which will be directed to the Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO). With three offices in California, CEO is working on implementing feedback loops with participants at all stages of its program model and associated research. Considering the Rockefeller Brothers Fund’s international focus, Shared Insight plans to direct this support to GlobalGiving and its efforts to implement feedback loops among charities listed on its website and their end beneficiaries.

Both foundations are enthusiastic about supporting Shared Insight’s mission. “This support from the Irvine Foundation and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund represents terrific collaboration,” said Fund for Shared Insight Co-Chair Fay Twersky. “Both of these funders were with us for the early conversations that led to the creation of Shared Insight, and committed to find ways that we could align our work.”

Irvine Foundation President Don Howard noted, “We believe deeply in the Fund for Shared Insight’s goals of increasing openness in service of effectiveness, particularly by advancing the practice of listening to the people we seek to support. It is a wonderful opportunity for the Irvine Foundation to partner with like-minded organizations that care about having an impact and about the people we serve.”

Stephen Heintz, President of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, added, “We recognize the value of increased dialogue across the nonprofit sector. Shared Insight’s work to bring together funders to learn with each other and grantees is an important step toward improving the effectiveness of philanthropy.”

Fund for Shared Insight welcomes additional funders to join our effort. For more information on how to get involved, please contact Melinda Tuan, project manager, at melinda@fundforsharedinsight.org.
